Major fire at a chemical waste storage facility in Campbellfield. The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) said in a statement that it had suspended the company’s licence to accept waste after an inspection by officers the previous month.
One worker seriously burnt and another taken to hospital.
It is estimated there was about 5,000m3 of burnt chemical waste, an unstable office structure and building material remaining on the site. It included sludge, concrete, steel and other material. Cleanup of the site cost about $6.5 million.
